Hello, I am Miss Tracy Barclay. I have been teaching for fifteen years and this is my fourth year teaching 5th Grade at St. Didacus. From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I loved learning and wanted to spread my enthusiasm for education to children. In 2001, I graduated from Cal State Northridge with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies and, in 2002, I graduated from Pepperdine University with a Master’s Degree in Education and a California Teaching Credential. I have taught Junior High, 2nd grade, transitional kindergarten and 5th grade. I truly feel that teaching was my calling in life.
Fifth Grade is an exciting year because it is our last year as an elementary school student and it is preparing us to be in Junior High next year. We read several novels as a class. We read From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler and we will soon be starting Tuck Everlasting. We explore figurative language and have started writing 5 paragraph essays. We will do State Reports in the Spring and are very excited to learn how to gather information from several sources and summarize the information.
